Appreciation Statement by United Way for AIMS Community Service

" Dear Friends of United Way at Acharya Institute(Peenya),

We hope you are all doing well and looking forward to the festive season and another new year filled with lots of good work to do.

We wanted to take this opportunity to 'Thank You' for your continued support and efforts throughout this year especially at the Plantation Drive at the Yelahanka Lake.

As you must remember, the 300 acre lake was a mere wasteland until it had been cleared of encroachments by the BBAP who then intended to rejuvenate it with the help of United Way.

On 27th July 2013, we asked you to help us initiate the restoration process at this lake. We requested for 1000 saplings which would be planted around the barren periphery of the lake. We were pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming response we received. A total of 400 volunteers got their hands dirty by helping us plant 1600 saplings.

Kudos to you for supporting this initiative!

Since then, we have been making regular visits to ensure that the saplings survive and are being looked after. You will be glad to know that your efforts on the day were not in vain. The plants are growing well, they are being watered regularly, and being well cared for by the gardeners at the lake.

As you can see, the rains helped bring in the much needed water into the dry lake. The saplings you planted with so much care are surviving and growing a little bigger each day. A little surprise on the side….benches have been placed around the lake to encourage the community living around the lake to come and enjoy it.

So next time you have some spare time on hand, why not visit the Yelahanka Kere, take a few pictures and send them to us with your thoughts and feedback? "
